Still lookin’ for those glittery plastic Skacel crochet hooks? They’re now available on the web, thanks to Chelsea, one of the fab members of Crochetville!

When none of us could find these sparkly hooks anywhere online, Chelsea e-mailed her LYS, Y2Knit, which just so happens to have an online store as well, and they agreed to carry them! (Even cooler… this shop is in my home state.)

You can buy them online here, but if you have an LYS, why not request them? Let’s show ‘em crocheters like beautiful, well-made tools, too.

Now, I know some of you may think they’re a little pricey for plastic, but trust me when I say they’re worth it. These are no Crystallites. The plastic these Skacel hooks are made of has a smooth and wonderful feel, and has none of those nasty ridges or spots that can snag your yarn. You all know me–I’m not a yarn or hook snob–but Crystallites are utter rubbish compared to these Skacel hooks.

I’ve owned a plain gray plastic Skacel hook for years and have loved it dearly, adored it even. The sparkly ones are of equal quality and–even better–they’re fun and pretty!

Happy crocheting with your sparkly hooks!

I’m pretty sure the only color is gold. But that’s a great idea! Maybe if they are popular enough, they’ll make them in different colors.

I’ve seen these in my LYS here in Germany. It’s very hit or miss though. My store here didn’t have any, then I went to Stuttgart and they (same chain) had some in a G hook. When I came back and went back in my store, they had these in knitting needles – very big ones though (~10-12mm)!

They don’t really attract me, but I can see why they attract others. :)

I too have a plain gray Skacel hook – I bought their 10mm one to do fun fur scarfs.

    Mmmmmmm… sparkles..!

I hope they have L’s. That’s the only size I can’t get in my usual hook style and I had to by a Crystallite POC.

The sparkly hooks are neat. I might buy one IF they came in colors other than gold…cause I’m not a fan of the yellow spectrum :)

I haven’t seen these in my neck of the woods. I’m always surprised that, living in a city with 2+ million people, that I’m hard pressed just to find a decent crochet hook. Lots of knitting needles, not many choices in crochet hooks. I wonder if the online store ships to Canada? It’s nice to see something pretty, yet functional.

I just found them in Augsburg at Wolle Rödel for the same price as normal hooks! They had 7mm and 8mm. I may have to go back just to snag me some more.
