Comfortghan for Anne

October 5th, 2005 · 13 Comments · Uncategorized

Anne has been struggling with a pituitary adenoma, a tumor of the pituitary gland (which is located at the base of the brain). Most pituitary adenomas are small and benign. However, Anne’s has been causing her memory problems, dizziness, pounding headaches, double vision, and numbness in her arms, back, and face. She is undergoing a barrage of tests and awaiting her surgery date.

Tandy, a Crochetville member, organized a comfortghan for her. Many villagers participated, sending 7-inch green squares to Tandy, who joined them together to make a comfortghan. Anne received it on Sept 23rd. Many thanks to Tandy for her hard work on this project! And many well wishes to Anne; we all hope your surgery and recovery goes smoothly!

These are the three squares I contributed to Anne’s comfortghan. Hey… I happen to like making granny squares! What can I say?

The first time I contributed to an afghan like that, I did a granny square and I was hooked!
That looks like a great present.

That’s so nice of you all. I have a friend who has had that illness for most of her adult life. Hers however, isn’t small nor benign. She gets through life quite happily anyway, and is about to have her fourth baby :)

Hello, from a fellow mom-to-be! You have a great site, and you look fantastic at 29 weeks! I hope to look that good! I’m at 20 weeks now, and am starting to really feel pregnant! Last month I could do anything (superwoman) and now I’m needing to take breathers! Keep up the great work and keep us posted on your pregnancy!

What a wonderful gesture. The daughter of our sons’ school founder/principal had a brain tumor of some kind (not sure what), and did not make it. She was 13 I believe.
Your granny squares are beautiful. And so is your baby belly. ;)

Hi Anne is my niece! And yes, her surgery was yesterday and went well! We are all hoping she will be home soon. It was very sweet of all of you to do this for her.
