Make It So

About six weeks ago (Yikes! Has it really been six weeks?), I mentioned there would be some minor changes underway to lighten my load. I think I’ve gathered up most of my ducks now and have them in a row.

Jess has graciously agreed to take over hosting this CAL. You can read more about the transition at the old page. The new page is at http://www.fiberfetishist.com/fns/, so please update your links. I know Jess will be a fantastic host. Keep makin’ those socks, everybody!

Jess has also agreed to be our first Super Moderator (which means she can moderate all forums) at Crochetville! This will be a great help because the board has grown and grown since we moved to our own domain. We now have over 1,000 members and in May we averaged 575 new posts per day.

I’ve done a little reorganization of how I handle this CAL. I created join and update forms, which will be required for those participating. Much easier than trying to keep track of little notes here and there from people. I’ve also added a members page (instead of listing people in the sidebar) and a tips page. I hope to flesh out the tips page with all kinds of helpful info.

Web Ring and Fanlisting
Crochet Blogs Do you?

One issue I have not really worked out yet is how to deal with, in a timely manner, people who join the Crochet Blogs web ring and the wool fanlisting without bothering to put up the proper code on their sites. I suppose I could just delete people without blinking an eye, but I’m too soft for that. But clogged queues make me cranky.

Funny, I am planning to write join/update forms so people can update their socks entries themselves as well. :)

Sometimes you just have to be a meany. Is there some way to send a mass message to blogring members? Remind them that they have to have the link, and for those that don’t update or aren’t mostly about crochet (for the Crochet Blogs ring) that they will be dropped after a certain length of time. There are an awful lot of Crochet blogs that are pretty much dead, which makes the back and forth links useless. I’ve also come across some that hardly ever mention crochet. I’ve reached the point where I use Bloglines as much as possible, and have just a few other links for people without RSS feeds, but who are worth checking out regularly.
