I had been planning on starting the Learn-to-Crochet Afghan in Crochet your Way by Gloria Tracy and Susan Levin. I’ve had the book for years, but was recently inspired by the great job Serene Hooks did on this afghan. I couldn’t decide what colors I wanted to use, so I bought several indiviudal skeins and tried some combinations. Even the colors that blended nicely didn’t please me. When it came down to it, I just couldn’t spend $100 on yarn for an afghan that I wasn’t excited about making. I liked the idea of the afghan–combining many different stitches, going from easiest to most difficult, to learn more about crochet. But I wasn’t keen on the afghan itself.
So, I have decided to make the afghan from the Leisure Arts leaflet #555, 63 Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan. I’ve ordered Patons Decor yarn from the Beehive Wool Shop and Herrschners. The colors I will be using are coralberry, pale coralberry, and aran.
